CHARITY
BRASS BAND CONCERT
by
THURCROFT WELFARE TRAINING
BAND
Held at St Simon and St Judes church, on Friday 21st February 2014, this was the first
formal concert for our newer members and everyone played really well. The band were joined by friends Kim Smith, Sheila Hancocks and Louise Piper from the senior band, and friend of the band
Lucy Vernon.
The band played a great variety of music and the bands pieces were interspersed by
duets and solos from band members. Our training band Flugel player, Mike Robinson, also gave us two great pieces on the church organ. Mike's second piece "The Dambusters" had the
audience clapping and cheering.
Ellie gave a great rendition of "The Ash Grove" - a pleasure to listen to as
usual. Louise played a lovely solo - Havana. Matthew gave a polished performance of Canon. The "oldies" made a contribution too. Sheila and Pam steadied their nerves to play a
duet each with Ken.
A big thank you to:
- Ken for all the work he puts in every week (and on the night) to ensure the band
always put on a good performance;
- Thurcroft church who let us use the church free of charge;
- Jill Saunders, Di Allison, Lorraine Emmerson and Mum, Graham Heeley for helping with
the organisation before the event and on the night.
- Everyone who came along to support the band, Alan and Brain Tumour
Research.
What a lovely evening and raised some money into the bargain.
